Sam Malin, Chief Executive Officer
Sam Malin has some
30 years of extractive industry experience. Before founding Avana, he
founded Madagascar Oil and was the originator of its giant heavy oil
field projects. As CEO of Madagascar Oil, he built it from a startup
into a USD 1.25 billion company. Sam was Chairman and Founder of Red
Island Minerals, which is developing major coal fields in south western
Madagascar and was purchased for approx. $100 million by Thai company
PTT-APM in 2012.
Sam sits on the board of Global Li-Ion Graphite Corp.
(LION:CSE) which is
developing graphite projects in Madagascar, Nevada and Manitoba and a
to graphene technology; he is a director of Cellcast (CLTV:AIM), an
provider and President of Burkes Peerage producer of definitive guides
on genealogy & heraldry of aristocratic & distinguished
Sam's previous experience includes positions as an industry advisor
under various EU programmes and employment with Standard & Poor's
DRI, Arthur D. Little and Dome
Petroleum. Sam gained a B.Sc. (Hons) in Geological
Engineering (Applied Geophysics) from Queen's University at Kingston,
Ontario, Canada, prior to undertaking graduate studies at the
University of Cambridge in England.
